VCI 4200 is an Advanced Data Communications Control Procedures (ADCCP)Asynchronous Balanced Mode (ABM) communications interface that providespoint-to-point communications for computers supporting a VMEbus or SBus-to-VME adapters.ADCCP ABM is defined by the ANSI X3.66 specification. Simpact's ADCCP ABMprotocol executes on the Simpact Intelligent Communications Processor(ICP 6/9), which is a 68020-based frontend processor (FEP) with upto 16 serial communications lines. The communications links can bedirect-wired, telephone lines, or satellite links.Since the communications processing is done onboard the Simpact FEP, themain system processor is left with maximum resource availability to runother critical computing processes.
